Katerina Petrova

Katerina Petrova was born in 1986 in Sofia. In 2005, she graduated from the National School of Dance Art in the class of Milena Simeonova. Immediately after, she started dancing in the company of the National Opera and Ballet House. She participates in the whole classical and modern repertoire, as well as in the company’s tours. She performs a number of solo parts: Indian Doll in “The Nutcracker”, Myrthe, a Couple of Wilis in “Giselle”, Aurora in “Coppélia”, Big Swans in “Swan Lake”, Carmencita in “Don Quixote” and others. She participated in a joint production together with the Dutch company INTRO DANS in the spectacle “Gilles” and as guest performer at a ballet competition in Cyprus. In 2004 г. and 2006, she participated at the International ballet competition in Varna. In 2004, she was awarded a Distinction third class – junior age at the ballet competition “Anastas Petrov” in Dobrich and in 2006 she won a Second prize – senior age at the same competition. Since 2012 Katerina Petrova is principal dancer at National Opera and Ballet Sofia and dances successfully the roles of Odette-Odile, Nikiya, Princess Aurora, The Lilac Fairy, Giselle, Myrtha, Kitri, Carmen and many others.
